Ah! the apples

Ah! The Apples is a duo show by two Latin American artists, Zoe Baranek (Río de Janeiro, 1997) and Jorge Morocho (Guayaquil, 1992). The exhibition proposes to revisit the possibilities that art offers as a technology of observation and recreation, both formally and narratively. The image of an apple is historically used as an object that triggers narratives. It is an image that contains the apparatus of the “Plot” within. This title establishes a connection between the image and the possibility that an image has to tell a story.

This exhibition explores painting, sculpture, and installation, considering the space of the Brocki as a receptacle of objects that question ideas about personal and collective nostalgia. We chose the Brocki as a meeting point between our practices, it being a place of tired objects with tired stories. An available ready-to-sell mass of objects with different temporalities, that induce nostalgia even though there is no personal connection to the "thing."
